Here’s something to consider: you learned not to sleep, and every night, you’re reinforcing that habit. But just as you learned it, you can unlearn it!

As a hypnotherapist, I help clients reset their sleep patterns, especially when anxious thoughts keep them awake.

Our subconscious mind speaks in metaphor. So, if your thoughts race at night, try this: Imagine your mind as a library at closing time. Each thought is a book, gently placed back on the shelf to rest. The library is closed. It’s time to sleep.

You slept soundly as a child—so what’s stopping you now? The culprit is limiting beliefs like:

  • I struggle to sleep.
  • I hope I sleep tonight.
  • I’m trying to sleep.

What you tell yourself becomes reality. Instead, replace those thoughts with:

  • My body is still, my mind is calm, and sleep will come.
  • As soon as my head touches the pillow, I drift into sleep.
