SET YOURSELF THREE DAILY GOALS FOR JANUARY

January is the time when many of us start to think about where we are with our lives and how we can improve them.

In December 2020 I made the biggest and the best decision of my life. After 54 years on the planet, I decided to stop drinking alcohol. Now over two years later I have never felt better.

The 9KM BY 9AM January Challenge is what I have been doing each month for over two years. It’s very simply setting yourself THREE daily goals. Try it for the whole of January and see what happens. Trust me it will change your life. It worked for me.

By consistently taking small steps you put yourself on a trajectory to achieving major milestones in your life.

The big goal or ‘moon shot’ I set myself two years ago was to be alcohol-free, to be healthy and fit, to be caring, to be present, to be happy.

Once I had this ‘moon shot’ as my target I came back down to earth and concentrated on my three daily goals.

So, this is all you have to do…

Daily Goal 1 – Every day, do not drink alcohol

Daily Goal 2 – Every day, go for a walk – try and push yourself to go further than you would normally go

Daily Goal 3 – Every day, meditate for 15 minutes

By doing this for over a year I lost over 4 stone in weight, sleep 7 hours a night and feel 30 years younger and have never been happier!

Making major changes in your life, like stopping drinking, can seem like huge impossible challenges. But the trick is not to look at it this way. Do not look up at Everest and fear its height. Instead look down on it and look at the journey as a series of small steps. Each step making you stronger and having more power and confidence to keep moving forward and take the next step. Just like the ancient Chinese proverb attributed to Lao Tze, which says, ‘A journey of 1,000 miles starts with a first step.’
