I AM WALKING 63KM IN SUPPORT OF ALCOHOL AWARENESS WEEK
Raising funds and awareness for Alcohol Change UK
To mark Alcohol Awareness Week (7–13 July) 2025, 9KM BY 9AM is dedicating all its daily walks throughout July to raise funds for national charity Alcohol Change UK.
Every day during Alcohol Awareness Week I am going to walk 9KM – a total of 63KM – please sponsor my efforts by donating just 10p per kilometre (£6.30) or more if you can!
Donate via JustGiving: https://www.justgiving.com/page/9kmby9am
All donations go directly to Alcohol Change UK. If you are UK taxpayer you can add on Gift Aid to your donation with no extra cost to yourself – making every contribution, go even further.
This year’s Alcohol Awareness Week theme, “Alcohol and Work,” highlights the important and often overlooked connection between our drinking habits and working lives. From low productivity and poor sleep to stress, presenteeism and worsening mental health, alcohol use has a wide-reaching impact on both individuals and organisations.
At the same time, work itself is changing. Many people are working longer hours, experiencing blurred boundaries between home and work, or navigating transitions such as job loss, retirement, or caring responsibilities – all of which can influence drinking behaviour. Social and professional events where alcohol is the default can also leave non-drinkers feeling excluded or uncomfortable.
By raising awareness and encouraging conversations around these issues, 9KM BY 9AM is supporting Alcohol Change UK’s mission to create a society free from alcohol harm. The charity works year-round to change attitudes, improve support, and offer evidence-based resources to individuals, workplaces, and communities.
Being sober over 4.5 years I know firsthand the difference alcohol-free living can make. Since going sober in 2020, I’ve helped, through my best-selling quit booze book and my life and sober coaching, hundreds of people re-evaluate their habits, improve their well-being and live with greater purpose.
There are around 10 million people in the UK drinking in ways that can harm their health. Alcohol affects us more than we realise – impacting sleep, anxiety, mood, energy, and focus. And yet, for many of us, it’s still tied into work-related stress or social habits we rarely question.
By doing this I hope I inspire people to take a fresh look at their own relationship with alcohol and work, while supporting the fantastic work of Alcohol Change UK.

If you know a business that would benefit from having an Alcohol Policy at work helping deliver best practice and employee well-being, please do drop me a line or book a discovery call. An Alcohol Policy provides a consistent narrative and approach to the use of alcohol, which can be adopted by the whole company and supply chain.
