CURIOSITY SAVED THE CAT
During the first few weeks of my alcohol-free journey, I started to look in depth at the statistics regarding alcohol – it was mind-blowing. These facts played a huge part in helping to convince me that things had to change.
There’s a saying that ‘curiosity killed the cat’. Essentially, it’s telling you be wary of being curious. If you are curious, it could cost you your life. It’s saying, keep in line and don’t ask too many questions. It’s one of those sayings that was passed down to me as a child, even though I’m not sure where I heard it. But this belief was hanging around somewhere in my subconscious mind. It is an incredibly powerful belief and one that I had carried around with me all my life.
One of the changes I made was to get rid of my limiting beliefs and this one had to go. I prefer now ‘curiosity saved the cat’ – that way you get to question things with a more open mind without the fear of death or something bad hanging over you.
Put very simply, I got curious about booze.
